For the Podcast Lovers
How's everyone doingIf I had a long list of what I missed about going out, one of the top ranked items would be to be going for a drive alone while listening to my favourite kind of music or podcasts. Now that I spend more time at home, I find myself listening to podcasts more because it's the closest thing that I can listen to the radio.
Hence, I'm dedicating this post to the podcast lovers our there!
I don't know about you but I have classifications on the types of podcasts that I listen to - the first type are those I play as background noise like a radio (while still paying attention) the other type is like an audiobook or guide for me to learn the language, for this case Korean.
Here are the three podcasts with Korean-related content that you can easily find them on Spotify or Apple Podcasts.
Talk To Me in Korean (TTMIK)

To all of you who are interested to take baby steps in learning how to speak in Korean - this is your go to podcast that I would recommend trying out. Just into the first episode, the bite-sized lessons (about 20 minutes) are easy to digest as the two hosts Hyun Woo and Kyeung-Eun gave different scenarios on how to use the particular phrase in the episode.
One thing I do appreciate is the way they break down the words - a simple example would be 감사합니다 (pronounced as kamsahamnida) that means thank you in Korean language. After breaking it down, 감사 actually means appreciation while 합니다 means I do (polite language). Do note that there are two types of speech levels in Korean - 존댓말 (Polite) and 반말 (Informal). Listening to this podcast has motivated me to start picking up Korean again (now that I have the time) on days that I want to practice my pronunciation.
Kpop Daebak with Eric Nam

If you're into Korean pop (Kpop) songs but not up to date with the latest release (like yours truly), all you need to do is to take a listen to this podcast every week and it will keep you up to speed. Not only Eric Nam breaks down the latest releases, he will share his thoughts along with his journey and experience in the music industry. In his latest episode, listen to how he breaks down the Spring Jams that include Taeyeon's Happy and eight by IU (Prod.&Feat. SUGA of BTS) - which I think is the best collaboration that we never knew we needed.
Out of all his episodes, I prefer the Catching Up episodes where he interviews his guests - to mention a few being Tablo, Jae from Day6 (my fav) and Amber. In my opinion, these are more entertaining to hear while his usual ones give a radio show vibe.
The Tablo Podcast

Hosted by Tablo and occasionally accompanied by his manager Eddie or producer Diane, this podcast covered the most random things from stories, Kpop, and also Marvel. For those who don't know who Tablo is, he is a rapper of Epik High which is a three-member alternative hip-hop group. If you're interested to hear how Epik High, he did cover them in one of the recent episodes which I find are interesting to listen to. While some may appear random, it was somewhat entertaining to listen to on a good or bad day even Tablo's recipe for ramyeon.
This is also where I took notes of his recommendations of K-drama because the only ones that he watched are Sky Castle and Signal. Having watched Sky Castle and knowing how good it is before listening to the podcast, I knew I had to give it a try. Since then, I've been telling people to watch Signal too because it's just so good y'all. Don't miss this one. Who knows you too might find some gem in there.
That wraps up the short post to talk about my favourite three podcasts to date! As much as I missed listening to the radio, podcasts are a good alternative and change - with significantly less ads that you could skip too.
Have a fun time learning Korean and have a good time laughing while listening to this podcasts!
