Quarantine Routine: What To Watch (Kdrama)

Image
With the extension of the Movement Control Order (MCO) in Malaysia, we are all bound in our homes for another 2 weeks. Now that going out is not an option, time to plan on your quarantine routine! During this time, a few of us may take this time to work on ourselves, to be a better version at the end of this MCO while some may just want to take the time to chill or bond over a Netflix series. Maybe it's finally time to work on your hobbies - take a brush and some paint, be a little creative with it. Even though you are not doing anything productive, it's okay and you don't have to feel competitive over your friends who are Masterchefs (in the making). It matters that you got through each day with a grateful heart and that's good enough. For those who are simply looking for a distraction, I would suggest coming up with a list of movies or dramas to watch. Think of it as a time to not think about work or study - just be a happy potato and binge watch all the movies or...

SaraaReviews: Itaewon Class

Image
Welcome to the second #saraareviews post! This time I'm shifting my gears to talk about my other favourite thing other than books, which is K-drama. Through the years, watching drama has been like an after meal activity with the family regardless of any genre. Somehow my preference grew towards Korean, probably because I wanted to learn their language through hearing their conversations. Itaewon Class (이태원 클라쓰) Like everyone else, I'm guilty as charged to say that I started watching this because of Park Seo Joon ( bae ) and it's also because his previous drama has never failed me. His visuals got my attention (and my heart) since 'Kill Me, Heal Me', then 'She Was Pretty' and 'Fight for My Way' so I'm not missing out on this one - though I'm impressed that the hairstyle isn't as bad as I thought. I may have started the drama a little late but better late than never. Based off the webtoon of the same name, let's get to the details. ...

Poemsia by Lang Leav

Image
Her second novel since Sad Girls, I have to say that Lang Leav did it again with this one and a little differently I might say. Yes, I am a fan of her work and often resonated with it especially Strangers at Sea (still my personal favourite thus far). Here's my take on Poemsia of which I'd rate 4/5. Image credits to the official website . A story about a 19 year-old who has talent for writing poetry but never the courage to post them on Instagram. Yet her dreams of being a poet never felt stronger than ever. Those who read it would be able to relate since we are living in a time where anyone can be instant poets, with so many platform available today. Does anyone else feel like the name of the main character, Verity Wolf sounds like poetry too?  As I read page by page, it felt as though Lang Leav wrote it about her journey in becoming a renowned poet herself, her overnight fame and all the things she experienced into this 19 year-old persona. With the title of the boo...

Crash Course on What To Eat in Jeju Island (2 of 2)

Image
As promised, the second post to talk about the recommended delicacies you should go for if you are planning on a trip to Jeju Island. It's impressive how this island is packed with specialty dishes that one could try. Here's a ''crash course" on what one should eat in Jeju, to satisfy your taste buds from a foodie (me) to another. Get ready for pictures of delicious food. Grilled Mackerel (고등어 구아) Photo credits to the owner One of the local's favourite type of fish, having it grilled and served with a dash of sea salt brings just the right saltiness you need in a dish. The best season to eat this is during autumn where the fish is said to have more flesh and oil then - making it more appetizing. This dish is my personal favourite because I love how its simplicity can bring such wonderful taste with a side of seaweed soup, on days when it is not my birthday. Abalone Porridge (전복죽) Photo credits to the owner With seafood being the highlight of th...

Crash Course on Places to Visit in Jeju (1 of 2)

Image
I've always wanted to write travel posts and come up with recommendations and places to go. Do you feel that excitement to dive straight into working on your plans, reading recommendations just after buying your plane tickets ? This is probably the ideal situation for detailed planners but not myself because I'm totally the spontaneous traveler.  At most, I will come up with a list of places to go along with the best place to dine local cuisines and delicacies. So that will be what I will cover in the first post - Must Visit Places in Jeju Island. Please note that these are written based on personal preferences. Do leave your recommendations in the comments! Stay tuned for my second post to see what I would recommend next. Mount Hallasan ( 한라산) As a city girl myself, I have a preference in visiting islands rather than famous cities - which is one of the main reason why I chose to start off with Jeju island. Just for the fact that this island is well known for its natur...

A Story That Never Happened

This was written at a time when I felt like we were something yet we were nothing. Just two plain strangers that happens to be at the same place, and perhaps not the right time. From that point, our paths diverged and we lived our own lives, writing pages of our own. This piece was something that I kept in draft for so long that I totally forgotten about it. I guess I didn’t realize how much it affected me, until I read them again and decided to finally publish this. Damn, I should try writing happier stories the next time. The title is as simplest as it is, a story that never happened. May this piece reminds us of the good times and the memories we once shared with somebody that you used to know. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A Story That Never Happened  You and Me. Was it something I didn't see?  Or was it something I refuse to believe in?  That was the question that came into my mind,...

To More New Beginning(s)

After writing 'Torn between two lovers' posts, I took some time off to reflect on myself and stumbled on the quote below on Instagram if I'm not wrong. “Wake up early tomorrow. Eat a good breakfast. Do your hair and makeup and put on a kick-ass outfit. Buy your cup of coffee and enjoy every sip of it. Go to work, make that money, and learn something new in the process.  Nourish. Grow. Inspire.  Self-destruction is not an option. ” I suppose that's all the self reminders you need, to keep going at it - even if no one is looking at your work. Even if no one is paying attention. Keep going because you want to and because self-destruction is not an option. Even though it's the start of April, I decided to name this post as 'To More New Beginning(s)' - because there is simply nothing wrong to keep starting over or continue working things from where you last left them. Yes, the essence of time should not matter here. What matters is to keep going at it. ...
